Vanwyksdorp
This small rural village is about 10 minutes’ drive away. It was founded in 1838 by the Van Wyk family and a few of their descendants still live amongst the population of about 800 people.
It is traditionally a farming community, with an eclectic mix of locals who add colour and flavour to the village.
You will notice a large area under construction. This is the exciting new Jobs4Carbon project with the dual focus of job creation and environmental restoration focussing on the re-establishment of the indigenous ‘spekboom’ plant, a carbon sponge that impacts our air quality.
